A commodity means substance or product that can be traded, bought, or sold:
A commodity market promotes trading in various commodities, it may be a derivatives market or spot market. In spot market, commodities are buy and sell for immediate delivery, whereas in derivatives market, various financial instruments based on commodities are traded.
In other words a reasonably interchangeable good or material, bought and sold freely as an article of commerce. Commodities include agricultural products, fuels, and metals and are traded in bulk on a commodity exchange or spot market.
